Obergurgl, Austria
Obergurgl-Hochgurg is a small village that is located in the Otztal alps in the state of Tyrol which is located in Austria.
The Otztal Alps is a mountain range that is located in the center of the Alps, and forms the natural border of Austria with Italy.
Tyrol which is also known as Tirol in German, is a state (Bundesland) in the western part of Austria and is split into two areas.
Obergurgl-Hochgurg is located in the Solden municipality which is spread over about 467 square kilometres (180 square miles) and is the largest municipality in the entire country (it has a population of about 3,500 people, and many more tourists).
Obergurgl-Hochgurg is nowadays mostly a tourist attraction due to it being near the picturesque green mountains. It is a resort nowadays but has been a village for about 400 years.
Obergurgl-Hochgurg became known back in 1931 when Auguste Piccard which is a Swiss explorer, had to land near it - in the Grober Gurgler Ferner glacier. It was during his famous balloon flight when he became the first man that flew into the stratosphere, which is the second major layer in the Earth's atmosphere.
Obergurgl-Hochgurg is located at a height of 1930 meters and is considered the highest parish in the entire country of Austria. The parish's church was only consecrated in 1737 and was recently renovated (back in 1967).
Obergurgl-Hochgurg is nowadays a part of a ski resort which lies in the end of the Otztal Gurglertal valley, which offers many peaks that top 3500 meters, and several glaciers that advanced hikers go to for a challenge.

The Haflinger breed of horses are also known as the Avelignese This type of breed was developed in the country Austria as well as the country Italy, as soon as the late 1800s
They are a melding of European breeds with Arabian variety and with the local ponies called the Tyrolean ponies, which resulted in a distinctive chestnut colour to the horses and a small size. They are used for many different types of sports and for therapeutic means as well.
