Pertisau, Austria
You will find the village of Pertisau in the Tyrol region of Austria. This village is located on the Achensee in the Schwaz district. To add to this geographically the village can be found in the Karwendel Alpine Park which is one of the oldest, cross-border, protected parts in the Eastern Alps. You will find there are many gorgeous valleys located in the Alpine Park area.
The village of Pertisau is considered as the centre from where the Achensee shipping business takes place. From the lake which can be found near the village you will find that every morning ships begin travelling along the lake. These ships then begin collecting the various goods from other villages which can be found near the lake as well. Once they have gathered all of the goods they head for the Achensee rack and pinion railway station which can be found at Seepitz.
Of course to see this sight you will need to come to Pertisau yourself. Once here you can visit the various sights in the village. One such sight that you may like to see is that of the Vitalberg museum. In this museum you will be able learn about the origins of Tirolean mineral oil. Likewise you will get the chance to understand the production process of this mineral oil from the various exhibits which can be found in the museum.
Another interesting place that you should visit while you are in Pertisau is that of a man made Glass Mountain. Here you will be introduced to a centuries old tradition of “Trioler Steinöl”. This is a special oil which is produced as a remedy for muscular-skeletal system problems, blood flow irregularities, and joint problems, easing tension, reviving the body before and after a bout of sports. You will find this glass mountain located in the centre of Pertisau.
In addition to visiting the glass mountain for “Trioler Steinöl” you might like to visit the Pertisau parish church. This church which is quite spectacular is the work of the Austrian architect Clemens Holzemeister. As you wonder around looking at this beautiful church you will understand why this is a lovely site to visit and take a moment out of your busy schedule. From the church you may want to visit the country residence of Emperor Maximilian I of Austria. This country residence is known in Pertisau as Fürstenhaus.
Of course if you are tired of sightseeing Pertisau offers its visitors great sporting activities like hiking, mountain biking. You can go paragliding by yourself or with another person in tandem. Besides these activities you will find the Achensee Lake is the ideal spot to engage on some kite surfing, diving, rafting or even cycling around the lake itself.
Ski lovers will love coming to Pertisau during the winter months as they can visit either the Karwendel Bergbahn ski slopes where you will find 8 easy slopes and 8 intermediate slopes or that of the Planberg Wiesenlifte slope. Here you will find there is one easy slope which is perfect for beginners. These two ski areas are also ideal walking places during the summer months.
