Larnaca, Cyprus
Larnaca is a city which is situated on the southern coast of Cyprus. For other sights in Larnaca the Hala Sultan Tekke is a place that you should think about visiting. It is about 5 km (3 miles) west of the city of Larnaka. You will find Hala Sultan Tekke on the banks of the Salt Lake. Hala Sultan Tekke is equivalent to a Christian monastery. Within the town of Tekke you will find the tomb of Umm Haram. Haram is said to be the foster mother of the prophet Mohammed.
Other than visiting these places of interest you can also take part in some of the festivals which are held in and around the city of Larnaca. Among the many festivals that you will find is that of the Larnaca Summer Festival. This festival is July, where the people of Cyprus celebrate music and the performing arts.
Epiphany or Phota which is held in January is one of the major Greek Orthodox religious celebrations. During this festival, people gather at the Cathedral and watch as a religious procession takes place. The procession will head down to the sea, culminating with a ceremonial baptism of the Holy Cross.
