If you’re heading to France’s Aix-les-Bains, you’re in for a fun-filled vacation. This relaxing city is home to a wide variety of activities that will be sure to occupy any walk of life. Aix-les-Bains also offers plenty of wonderful restaurants and hotels to look forward to. Because it contains France’s biggest lake as well as one of its largest mountains, Aix-les-Bains is a popular city choice for tourists who are heading to France.
Probably the city’s single biggest attraction is its Lac du Bourget, France’s biggest natural lake. If you find yourself here, the options for fun are seemingly endless. The most popular lakeside activities are sail-boating and water skiing. If active water sports aren’t your thing, you can always just bring a towel (and some suntan lotion) for a quiet time on the lakeside. Cruises are also offered every now and again, giving tourists insight into the lake while seeing its beauty firsthand at the same time.
Even if you are looking for a pool, but aren’t thrilled about being around other lake-goers, there are several recreational centers scattered throughout the city that offer public pools. Of course, all water activities are carefully supervised by trained lifeguards, at both the centers and the lake.
Mont Revard has a more year-round list of activities. During the summer, visitors can hike or mountain-climb to their heart’s content. The winter season brings with it an opportunity for skiers and snowboarders to slide freely down the mountainside. Some people even like to go dog-sledding!
Another well-suited summer activity that is a popular choice for some tourists is Aix-les-Bains’ esteemed golf course. Offering a full 18-hole course, the golf course’s hilly terrain is challenging fun for almost any serious golfer. The city takes priority in its popularity, recently renovating it and keeping it in prime condition for its users.
Aix-les-Bains is home to its own tennis club as well. The club has several open courts of both the hard- and earthen-court variety. Tennis players are sure to find fun here.
For those gamblers who are looking for exciting casinos, look no further than Aix-les-Bains. The city’s two casinos are the prime highlight of its nightlife. Visitors to either the Casino Grand Cercle or the Nouyeau Casino can expect a wide variety of card and dice games, but they offer much more than gambling. Restaurants, cinemas, bars, and more can all be found in either of these two places, offering fun for both the gambler and the non-gambler.
Don’t worry about finding a place to stay either. Aix-les-Bains has many, many hotels of all classes, the two most prestigious of which are the Mercure Ariana and the Raddison Sas Hotel. And if you were hoping for a camping trip you’re in luck! There are 3 campsites within the city limits, with two more just on the outskirts.
If you’re looking for a family outing or day trip, the Maison du Loc Aquarium may just be the place to bring your kids. The aquarium here is the biggest in freshwater fish aquariums in all of France with 42 different species of fish to see. It is yet another popular stop on the lists of sights to see.
