Bad Wörishofen, Germany

Bad Worishofen that is in Germany is considered a spa town which means a town that is situated or was built due to a mineral spa that is located in the area. They are known for their health benefits and the word spa comes from the town in Belgium that is called Spa. Such resorts - spa towns etc, - usually offer hydrotherapy as well as warm and cold mineral water, and mineral water treatments. Spa towns also sometimes offer hot thermal baths.

The spa town of Bad Worishofen is located in the Unterallgau district which is a Kreis and is located in the south west part of Bavaria that is in Germany. It is one of dozens of districts in the area of Bavaria.
Bad Worishofen is famous for the water-cure of Sebastian Kneipp which was born in the year 1821 and died in the year 1897 and was a catholic priest. Sebastian Kneipp lived in Bad Worishofen for 42 years and his treating methods are still used to this day in the surrounding hotels and boarding houses.

Sebastian Kneipp is one of the founders of the Naturopathic medicine movement and is familiar for the Kneipp Cure which is basically a version of hydrotherapy which uses various methods and temperatures to heal sick people. You might also know him for the Kneipp Bread (Kneipbrod) which is a common bread in Norway made out of whole wheat.
His healing system combined spirituality to cleanse the mind, with good nutrition - meat, fruits and vegetables and different types of grains, to keep the body clean, regular exercise to keep the body in shape, herbalism for natural medicine and hydrotherapy for diseases.
It's basically a treatment and prevention method of medicine.

Bad Worishofen also offers a brand new spa complex that is located a bit out of town and is called Therme Bad Worishofen, and is located near Munich and has a misleading name - Therme suggests it offers Roman baths but it doesn't. The complex is divided into two parts, and has a dress code.

The mayor of Bad Worishofen is Klaus Holetschek, Bad Worishofen spreads over about 58 square kilometres (which is about 23 square miles) and is about 600 to about 670 meters above sea level. Its population is about 14,000 or more, meaning that the population density is 242 people per square kilometre (or 627 people per square mile).
The town also prides itself in being the birth place of both actor Yank Azman which is a Canadian television and movie actor that was born in 1947, as well as film director Rainer Werner Fassbinder which was born in 1945 and was a cause for a lot of controversy over his views and films.
