Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a German city with a rich and unique history. Originally Garmisch and Partenkirchen two separate German cities until it was forced to merge together in 1935 in anticipation of the 1936 Winter Olympic games, and as a result each section of the city continues to maintain a fairly separate identity.

If you are interested in vacationing in a city with amazing ancient architecture Garmisch-Partenkirchen might be the perfect spot for your next trip. While in the city you might like to visit the Alte Kirche, or Old Church, originally believed to be an ancient Pagan temple, but later used as a Storehouse, armory, and haybarn; which has been reconstructed recently but still boasts to show some of the original medieval Frescoes. Also the King's House on Schachen, might be of interest, it was built for Ludwig II of Bavaria, it's grounds contain a luscious botanical garden for the nature lover.
