There are many beautiful cities that you can visit when you go to Germany and of these you will find a visit to Koblenz to be most relaxing. This city which is located in the Rhineland-Palatinate is the third largest city in that state. The city is located at the merging point of the Rhine River with Moselle. Unlike many other cities which can be found on one side of a river’s bank, you will see that Koblenz is located on both sides of the Rhine River.

As you wander around this city you will be able to see various statues and monuments which provide Koblenz with a unique personality. Of the many landmarks you may be interested in seeing the monument of Emperor William I on horseback. This monument can be found in the Deutsches Eck. Another interesting site you may wish to take a look at is that some remains of a Roman bridge which was built in 49 AD. You may wish to see the Rhine Gorge which was declared as a World Heritage Site.

Of course these are just a few of the many magnificent sights you will have the chance of encountering when you visit Koblenz. These sights will include places like the Basilica of St.Kastor or as it is called in German Kastorkirche. The church was dedicated to the Castor of Karden and it has four towers that you will be able to look at when you visit the Basilica. This church was built in 836 by Louis the Pious. The present church building was built in the Romanesque style with the vaulted roof being made in the Gothic style. The roof of the basilica can be dated from 1498 while the church was completed being built in 1208.

For those who believe in good luck you may want see what happens when you stop at the Schängel-Brunnen. This is a fountain that you will be able to find near the town hall. Once you have found this fountain you should stand three steps in front of the fountain and straight in front of the fountain figure’s face. You will now need to wait here for 10 minutes before moving. From the third minute on see what fortune comes your way as a result of standing in front of the Schängel-Brunnen fountain of Koblenz.

Another place you should visit while you are in this city is that of the Festung Ehrenbreitstein. This castle or fort is one of the city’s many museums that you will be able to see. Within this museum castle you will be able to see some of the equipment and weapons which were used in this military castle. From the castle you will have a splendid view over the entire city of Koblenz.
