Brenzone, Italy

In the province of Verona in Italy you will be able to find town of Brenzone. This delightful town located in the Veneto region of Italy. Here you will find the town is near to Lake Garda and its many attractions. The pleasant climate of this area makes visiting here a pleasure. As you look around Brenzone you will find there are many interesting places that you can see and things you can do. Of these numerous activities you will find a visit to the San Zeno church in Castelletto Brenzone to be a visit well spent.

The San Zeno church of Brenzone is considered to be one of the oldest examples of Christianity which can be found in the Lake Garda area. The eastern wing of the church dates back to the 11th century. You will find that the western wing of the church however dates back to the 12th century. There are three apses, two aisles and a cycle of interesting looking frescoes from the 13th century that you might be interested in looking at. These frescoes depict the life of Saint John the Baptist. Other interesting finds you can learn about are the Roman artefacts which have been unearthed from the graveyard which can be found adjacent to the church.

Once you leave the San Zeno church you may want to see the Giovanni Batista Parish Church which can be found at Magugnano Brenzone. This church was enlarged and rebuilt many times during the 18th century. On the inside of this lovely church you will find many interesting and beautiful sights to look at. As an example you should take a look at the 16th century crucifix and an altar piece. The alter piece depict the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian. This alter piece was painted by Giovanni Caliari in 1838. The final interesting item to be looked at in this church is that of the Romanesque bell tower which dates from about the 15th century.

Take time out from your sight seeing to stop at the old fountain in Brenzone. Here you will be able to look and admire the ancient millstone which was used grind olives and grains. Your next stop at this point might be the San Nicola Church in Brenzone. This church is dedicated to St. Nicola and you will find that it is located at Assenza of Brenzone. The church was built sometime during the 14th century.

The interior of this church will reveal some gorgeous Gothic arches which have been decorated with frescoes. The church altar has a painting of the Madonna with Child. You will see San Zeno on the right hand side of the painting and in a corner of the painting there are some believers who are members of the Ivani family. This is the family that donated this magnificent work of art to the San Nicola Church in Brenzone.

As you look at this church you will be able to feel the atmosphere of the church seeping into your soul.
