Forio di Ischia, Italy
Italy is known to be a beautiful country. Here you will find the town of Forio. This town which is also called Forio of Ischia can be found in the province of Naples. It is situated on the island of Ishia. Among the many landmarks and natural beauties that you can find in Forio you will find there are numerous coastal watchtowers which have been built along the coastline. These watchtowers were built in the Middle Ages as warnings against raids made by African and Saracen pirates.
While the rest of Italy is a paradise to visit you will find that Forio is no slouch in the places of attraction department. Here you will find there are numerous places that you can visit. These will include places like the Villa La Mortella. This amazing park is the creation of William Walton who was an English composer.
When he arrived here in 1946, he immediately called for a botanical expert to come from England in order to lay out the garden. The various plants which are here include gorgeous Mediterranean and a variety of tropical plants. Today you will see that some of plants have now reached amazing heights. The park can be found at Forio d'Ischia.
Another great place you will find to visit while you are in Forio is that of the Villa La Colombaia Lacco Ameno. This villa is surrounded by a magnificent park and the entire estate used to be the residence of Luchino Visconti who was a well known movie director. Today the Villa is the seat of the Cultural Institution which is dedicated to Visconti.
This cultural institution is involved in promoting numerous cultural activities like art exhibitions, music, work-shops, cinema, theatre and cinema reviews. At the Villa you will also find a museum which is dedicated to Luchino Visconti. Both the Villa and the Park are open for public visits.
Even though sightseeing can be quite fun you may enjoy seeing other places such as the
Sorgeto Hot Springs. These springs which are quite popular have been used by numerous visitors from the 1300’s. Various visitors have come to soak in the soothing heated waters of Ischia.
The Sorgeto Hot Springs are located near the Forio coastline, where the thermal water surges out to sea. There are many small rocks and stones where you can lounge in this natural pool. To get to the Hot Water Springs of Sorgeto you will find there is a series of stone steps. The temperature of this hot springs will allow you to bathe here in the winter time as well.
Even though the town of Forio is not that large you will find there is plenty of sights and activities to keep you occupied. To enjoy these wonders it is best if you were to come in person. This way you can explore the town of Forio for yourself while you enjoy the warm hospitality of Forio.
