Cape Town the port city of the South Africa is famous for its harbor besides many other attractions. The city is considered as second most populated city of South Africa and the largest from land area perspective. National parliament and many government offices are located in the city as it is the governmental capital of South Africa and the provincial capital of the Western Cape. Approximated population of the Cape Town as of 2007 was 3.5 million. City’s land area of 2,455 square kilometers (948 sq mi) is greater than all other South African cities, with the population density of 1,425 residents per square kilometer(3,690 /sq mi).

The immigrants heftily rushed to South Africa after the discovery of diamonds in Griqualand West in the year1869 and the Witwatersrand Gold Rush in 1886. Second Boer War of 1899-1901 took place as the consequence of growing disputes between the Boer republics in the center and the British colonial government which was won by Britain, resulted in establishing the Union of South Africa through the unification of cape colony with two defeated republics. Cape Town became legislative capital of the Union and later on of the Republic of South Africa.

The middle of the Cape Town is situated at the northern end of cape peninsula with Mediterranean climate. This climate type tells about the well defined seasons of the city. Winter lasts from May to September with large cold fronts from Atlantic Ocean and strong winds from northwest, summer lasts from November to March, remains cold and dry.

Cape Town is the nucleus of economic activities of the Western Cape Province as well as the second major business center of South Africa, plays its role as the regional manufacturing hub of the Western Cape. Harbor and airport include the main characteristics of the city. Presence of government offices in the city is one of the causes to generate enlarged income and development of industries to help the government.

Cape Town has the honor to host many national and international conferences at the venue name Cape Town International Convention Centre inaugurated on June 2003. Cape Town is having more sky scrappers than that of Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest metropolitan city. The population of Cape Town in 2001 was about 2,893,251 according to South African National Census. There are about 759,767 households in the city. About 4.2% of 20 age people are not educated. From the population 46.6% of people are under the age of 24. There are 31% Black Africans, 18% are white people and a small percentage of Asians is 1.43%. Cape Town is the most major city for tourism in South Africa. Table Mountain National Park is the most beautiful place and it attracts a large number of people.
