Cangas de Onís, Spain
Cangas de Onis is an ideal place for spending holidays in Asturias if you have a desire to see nature in all her glory. It is also a great place to be if you are interested in climbing, and canoeing of if you just want to take a relaxing break. This part of Spain is full of greenery and the villages are picture perfect.
Due to all of this, Cangas de Onis has been a centre of tourist attraction almost right from the start. It is very close to Cavadonga, which is also a well recognized tourist village. If it is adventure you want, you can find it in the town of Arriondas, but you will have to make special arrangements to travel there. The coast is also nearby to Cangas de Onis and it can be reached within a half hours drive.
However, if the thought of driving gets you down, you will find that you don’t really have to leave Cangas de Onis as there is a lot to explore in the form of the many picturesque villages that are very close.
Although Cangas de Onis was developed with an eye towards attracting tourists, the manner in which this was accomplished was subtle enough that it has not put the tourists off from flocking here. It is a small town where you can find things to explore while enjoying the scenic beauty of nature found all around you.
Like any other tourist city however, you will find shops, restaurants and the like here, along with companies which can arrange trips for you or even take you in to the mountains. Finding shops to suit your tastes is not that difficult in Cangas de Onis, and all the shops are either on, or off, from one main road. Most of Cangas de Onis’s main buildings also lie close to this road. And for a nice little break from all that shopping, there is a small square which is encircled by laid back bars and café’s which although quite busy are also very cosy.
The local residents are generally quite cooperative and friendly and if you lose your way around town, or just want to find the best place to have a meal in, you can do no worse than to ask a local. The streets of the town are very colourful and clean and tidy and the green mountains make the scene complete and perfect. And if you find yourself on the outskirts of the shopping area, you might even get the chance to cross a small river.
It has been said that the best things in Cangas de Onis can be seen by spending some days in the rural hotels close to this tourist spot. If you find you have a few days on your hands, you might want to try this out as all the essentials of the modern life gel together with the beauty of Cangas de Onis to create a place that is magical and relaxing all at the same time. Come to Cangas de Onis and find yourself entranced by the lustrous beauty all around you.
