Playa del Ingles, Spain

Playa del Ingles has a great pull on many holidaymakers. The beaches and hotels of this resort are well known by tourists. When you arrive at the resort you will find that the activities that you can take part in will provide you with many hours of enjoyment. These activities can be the normal beachside activities such as surfing, swimming and diving but there is also another side to Playa del Ingles that is worth investigating.

In the northwest corner of the Gran Canaria islands you will discover Repilandia. This spot is a haven for some of the reptile life which inhabits the island. Here you will be able to see turtles, snakes, various types of lizards, tortoises and even the Komodo Dragon. Spiders and monkeys also share this space with the various lizards. You can find Reptilandia near Agaete.

You can also visit the Museo Canario. Here you will see how the original inhabitants of the Gran Canaria islands, the Guanche people, lived until they were conquered by the Spanish during the 15th century. In this museum you will also see the largest collection of Cro-Magnon skulls and some mummies from that time. This museum is found in Las Plamas.

In addition to these attractions near Playa del Ingles you can take your family to see the three water parks which can be found near the resort. At these parks you will encounter lots of fun rides like the water slides, wave machines and swimming pools with lazy rivers. These parks are Aqualand Aquasur, Ocean Park, and Aqua Park which can be found in nearby Puerto Rico.

You can take a day trip from Playa del Ingles to the town of Arcus. This town is located in the northern side of the Gran Canaria islands. Here you can look at the church of San Juan Bautista. This church was carved entirely out of stone. Within this town you can see how rum is manufactured from sugar canes at the Fabrica y Museo del Ron. To get a splendid view of the northern coastline you can take a walk to the Montana Arcus viewpoint.

To see some interesting animal life in the nearby town of Aguimes you should take a day trip from Playa del Ingles to the Parque de los Crocdrilo. This park is divided into two sections. In one section you will be able to see tigers, jaguars, camels, and other animals. The restaurant in this part of the zoo features some beautiful parrots who perform some amazing acts like fixing up a jigsaw puzzle or roller skating. And in the other section of the park you will find a number of different crocodiles and alligators from various parts of the world lazing around.

Once you have had enough of these delights you can head back to Playa del Ingles to rest up before you plunge into the numerous activities that can be enjoyed here. These activities can include taking a leisurely stroll around the Paseo Costa Canaria, which is a beautiful pedestrian promenade.

Here you will find lush gardens planted on the sides of the promenade to enhance your relaxing walks. For the more active minded you will find that Playa del Ingles offers you a choice of water sports like jet-skiing, banana boat rides, windsurfing and scuba diving to name but a few. You can indulge yourself in other sports activities like golf, skydiving, go-karting, and camel riding as well as horse riding if you find that it takes your fancy.
