Crans-Montana, Switzerland

Switzerland is a beautiful country where you will find lots of fantastic scenery and friendly people. Within this country you will find the ski resort of Crans Montana. The resort has been created from the melding of two separate towns. These towns are Crans and Montana. You will find this resort is located on a plateau above the Sierre which is found in the heart of the Valais.

As the resort is at a height of 1,500 meters you will find that you have a great view of the Weisshorn and the Valais Alps from the resort. For many ski lovers visiting here is a pleasure as the skiing area of Crans Montana is composed of 140 kilometers of pistes to enjoy. Likewise you will find that the highest area in the ski range is that of Plaine Morte which tops out at 3000 meters.

One of the great things you will find out about staying at Crans Montana is that you can get unbelievable panoramic views of the Alps from Crans-Montana itself. These views will include the “Imperial Crown” of the Weisshorn, the Obergabelhorn, Dent-Blanche, the Zinalrothorn, and the Matterhorn. In addition to seeing these views, you will find the services and facilities at the Crans Montana resort to be exceptional. There are about 28 ski lifts which can take you wherever you need to go. These ski lifts will include amongst them the brand new National Express chairlift.

As you enter the ski area you will see there are numerous marked pistes which will allow you to see which areas are best for your level of skiing. Of these pistes about a third have been covered with artificial snow which means that even on the sunniest and warmest days in the resort you will still be able to enjoy getting good ski runs. Another fantastic sight that you will see when you come to Crans Montana is that of the prepared cross country skiing pistes. These pistes are about 35 km long and they will range from the plateau at 1500 meters to the glacier itself.

For the many people who are not lovers of skiing you will find that Crans Montana is one place they will enjoy. Here you will be able to watch alpine skiing, free style skiing, snowboarding and even having fun in the 50'000m2 snow park. You will find the various slopes of Crans Montana are perfect for the advanced skiers as well as the beginners. After you have enjoyed yourself outdoors you will find the après ski at Crans Montana to be absolutely fabulous.

You will find the restaurants and bars at the resort to be quite friendly and with a lively atmosphere. The food which you can get will be of superb quality and you can relax with friends or watch the other guests as they too relax from their hard day of skiing.
