Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and is the third most populated UK city. Glasgow is located in the west central lowlands next to the Clyde river, which is a major river in Scotland and is the ninth longest river in the UK (third longest in Scotland).

In its early years Glasgow grew to be a place that contributed greatly to the Scottish enlightenment era and it became one of the transatlantic trade routes to the Americas, but later on evolved into a centre for building ships and engineering. Nowadays Glasgow's population is over one million people making it responsible for a big part of Scotland's total population.

Glasgow's climate is considered oceanic meaning it has a milder climate that is warmer than the surrounding areas. Glasgow also boasts the third largest GDP per capita in the UK and supplies 410,000 people jobs that spread over 12,000 companies. Glasgow's job growth rate is 32 percent.

While visiting Glasgow you might want to tour the city and view its historical structures. If you choose to do so, it's important to remember that very few of the medieval structures remain standing and that it's better to prepare and choose a building that appeals to you and is open for visitors during the times you want to visit Glasgow.
If you're a 19th century buff you're in for a treat due to the majority of the city's structures dating from that time, but if you want something much earlier the city boasts two main landmarks - one from the 13th century and one from the 15th century.

If you prefer to go the vacation route rather than the site seeing route you might want to look into the many cultural centres Glasgow has to offer.

You can visit the Kelvingrove art gallery & museum which is set in a beautiful and vast building of historical significance, where one of Europe's greatest civic art collections is held. The museum and gallery are free to enter and are major attractions in Scotland, and has been refurbished recently.

Glasgow also boasts a major music scene and you can enjoy concerts and see live shows in the Glasgow Royal Concert hall, the SECC and many other venues. Several of the bands that came from Glasgow and play there are Amy Macdonald who is a singer that had recent big hits, Simple Minds who saw its big success from the 80s to the 90s, Snow Patrol who have been nominated for three BRIT awards and won five MIMAs, Travis a band that had many hits and major worldwide success in both the 90s and in 2000s, Franz Ferdinand broke big several years ago with their unique style, the famous The Jesus and Mary Chain that began in 1983 and broke up but recently reformed and is touring, etc.
So you can see that as far as art and music is comcerned, Glasgow has much to offer.
