Located in the Norfolk region of the United Kingdom Great Yarmouth has many great attractions for visitors to enjoy. With the East Port for visitors to use to enjoy the maritime fun, horse races for the race enthusiasts, fun fairgrounds, miniature golf and more this seaside city is full of family fun.
Great Yarmouth is home to fifteen miles (twenty-four kilometers) of golden sand beaches. The picturesque coastline is dotted with rugged cliffs and seaside amusement parks. You can enjoy the clean soft sand all year round, even when it’s too chilly to enjoy the water. Enjoy lazing in the sun with the kids or stroll along the shoreline no matter the season.
Along the beach there are many seaside amusements for you to enjoy. For the little kids, there are bouncy castles to enjoy and the whole family can enjoy the donkey rides. There are also theme parks to enjoy with rides and mini-golf to take advantage of; the kids will not be bored.
For adults who like to enjoy some excitement, a must stop is the Great Yarmouth racecourse. This is one of four racetracks in the United Kingdom that has a straight mile stretch. This is makes for an exciting spectator sport as the horses come thundering at the crowds.
Visitors can use the East Port for maritime enjoyment. There are rules and regulations for use of the port and small crafts can be used in the port. To enjoy swimming or diving you must use the beaches of Great Yarmouth but if you are planning on using any small water crafts you will need to go through the East Port for the regulations on what rules and restrictions are employed.
Thanks to Great Yarmouth’s medieval heritage there are heritage walks for you to enjoy during your stay.
One treat to be sure to visit, is the model town. The Merrivale Model Village a set on an acre of land and is home to villages, bridges and even railways. Wander the village and be amazed at the detail put into each of these pieces. You might be surprised by the small figures. You might be amazed to find a bank robber or even a streaker! While at the Merrivale Model Village be sure to visit their Penny Musuem. Here they have a totally unique penny arcade including some refurbished penny slots like the “Laughing Sailor”. Before you leave be sure to stop by the tea room for a spot of tea and cakes and then over to the gift shop to get your postcard or model village souvenirs.
Great Yarmouth is a tourist destination with something for everyone. Their ample beach can be enjoyed all year long; the seaside amusements can be enjoyed by everyone as well as the beautiful scenery. With the understanding of the port rules, you can enjoy boating as well. Taking a tour of the model village will simply amaze you. Great Yarmouth is definitely worth a stop.
