Ilfracombe that is located in the United Kingdom is considered a seaside resort as well as a civil parish and is located in the north part of the coast of Devon in England, and is basically consisting of a small harbor which is surrounded by cliffs.
The parish includes other villages outside of the Ilfracombe area, and spreads to the east and west for several kilometers, from the coast.
If you are planning to visit Ilfracombe and you are concerned about which way to choose - which mode of transportation, you have several options.
You can take the A361 which is the longest 3 digit A road in the entire area of England, and Ilfracombe is located in the south ending of it. With it you can also reach Kilsby, which is important if you are using Ilfracombe as a rest stop or if you area traveling salesman, or if you intend to prolong your vacation and visit other places as well.
You can also take a seasonal ferry which goes from the harbor to Lundy Island, or you can rent boats and yachts and cruise the waters yourself, with your friends and family, and maybe fish while you're in there.
There is also the National Rail station in Barnstaple from which you can take public buses which are always available, to Ilfracombe, or you can take smaller routes surrounding the city with coach buses. You can also reach London Victoria and the Heathrow Airport by coach twice a day.
If you are more interested in watching sporting events, you are in luck because Ilfracombe is known for its rugby union (the Ilfracombe Rugby Union) which was started a century ago and has famous and talented players like Kai Adair and Adam Squires.
You can also watch games of the Ilfracombe Town Football Club at the Marlborough Park which is close to the Ilfracombe arts college. They compete in the premier division ever since 2006.
There is also a golf club located in Ilfracombe - beyond the Hele bay - and was started way back in 1892. If those sports aren't the type you want to watch, you can also enjoy cricket games from the Cricket Club which was established back in 1923, which you can observe in the Killacleave Playing Fields. There is also a swimming club in Chambercombe, and a tennis center as well as many other sport centers and stadiums.
If you are more interested in the city's cultural centers, you are still in luck, because there are many venues in which you can observe the arts - such as the Landmark Theatre next to the Emmanuel Church.
You can also partake in festivals and celebrations, such as the Ilfracombe Victorian Celebration in which locals and tourists dress like people from the Victorian era for an entire week.
You can also visit the farmer's market which is held regularly and is situated in the Lantern Community Centre, or go to one of the various museums that are available in the city.
